Steve - Thanks for that

I like the 2 shots you posted, + especially the effect you got with the glass

I did get 3 different task/desk lights specially, + will give these a go, as you suggest
abirkill - Thanks for your input too

My dilemma in choosing a wide-angle (that I can afford) is will the one I can afford be wide enough on my 1.5 sized D50, e.g. a 20mm will produce the angle of a full-frame 30mm, so doesn't seem much point, i.e. it's not wide at all. The wider 14mm (21mm equiv. - I could live with that) price is £1k hmmm ... nah! I'm talking about Nikkor of course. The reason I'm not that keen to go for 3rd party lenses is that they may be slightly cheaper but you definitely lose some quality, so to me it's not worth the small saving. (However, I may end up changing my mind on that!) As Steve pointed out earlier, I have the kit zooms, 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 + 55-200mm f/4-5.6, so the upgrade I'm after is essentially prime 2.8 lenses for optimal sharpness etc., although a small zoom like the 10-20mm you mention might be worth considering, if it was f/2.8. These are my thoughts at the mo', but I'm not going to make a hurried choice, as I want to end up with the kit that's right for me, so am still open to suggestions. Your post is very useful abirkill, + I will refer back to it, thanks for taking the time
