Please take what you are about to read as a personal opinion only and not one of the Pixalo Crew as a whole.
I believe that in the critique section we should be very open to criticism as well as praise. You can’t expect one without being able to handle the other. I always remember that when offering an opinion on a shot and try to point out both what I like and what I dislike from both a technical and a personal point of view. If this forum became just like the photo sharing section it would no longer have a purpose IMO.
Should you show only your best work here? For me I would not show anything other than what I consider my best work in this section unless there was a picture that I just couldn’t understand or work the way I wanted. I would then post that here for your opinions but include some text to express my reservations and issues with the shot to hopefully help you guys help me. Why would I not show other photos that I don’t consider my best, quite simply because if I know it not to be my best work, I also know why its not and thus it removes the need for critique. I personally want to improve not look at my skill level from 12-18 months ago, but hey…that’s just me and you can use this section however you wish.
To the picture…as Markulous has said it’s a tiny file size for its dimensions and as a result the quality we are viewing it at doesn’t allow for serious assessment of the focus, details and exposure leaving us only with the composition to comment on. In that and with the greatest respect Fiona, you, I and just about every other member on the forums knows that you are now miles ahead in terms of skill from when this shot was taken. The faults have already been highlighted but I would bet that you knew about them before any comments were posted
