The historical idea of forums has always been that a member could remain anonymous. I think that the anonymity should continue for whatever reason a member choses (as long as it's legal
). I can't see that it would work if we imposed your suggestion on members and in fact we could well lose members.
However, as you have said, you always have the option of putting your real name in your sig and one could even incorporate it into the forum name eg spxxxx-simon. By the way, sigs only show up if you have used a certain number of characters in a reply which concentrates on the reply rather than the sig.
