I think with the D50 you will need a lead and the Nikon one is a lot of money for what it is but it makes all the difference and will work with the whole system so is potentially future proof. The SB600 is an alternative if budget gets tight but the 800 is worth the extra.

As to what you buy it depends on your photography, the 10-20 is great for landscapes and would round out your outfit.

A macro lens can also be used for portraits and adds a whole new dimension.
