I was recently in your position and in the end chose to go for the Nikon D80 over the canon equivalent. Although i did not actually hold the canon one i read tons of reviews on the internet and the nikon seemed to come out on top.
Now that i have it i would definetely recommend it to you as it reall is an excellent camera!
