Thanks Matt. I think you like the sepia because it tends to minimise the burning out issue, and that is a hell of a good reason for liking it! I think there is a bit more contrast in the sepia one too, probably bringing out a bit more detail. But my vote would go the the colour image on the grounds that it is more comtemporary and fits the image better. In this instance, the subject over-rides the texture, which I think would be more central to the image if it were a still life or close up of a natural subject. Just my opinion of course.

I think there is a bit more to come from the colour version too.
