Question What should I do--any suggestions?

Ok---I have a Canon EF-70-300 IS USM lens. I bought it a few weeks ago (I know it hasn't been that long) and I like it alot. I'm learning on it. Maybe not to smart on my part. I have been looking at getting the Canon 17-85 to have as a walk around lens. Then I thought of the dollars involved in having both of these lenses verses maybe just forgetting having these two and just having the EF 24-105L. The combined cost of the first two lenses will equal the cost of the 24-105. I like taking pictures of everything I see of interest. I haven't honed in on a special type of photography--and I hope not to as I want to see everything. I'm going on a trip soon to Colorado and I know the right lens will really help. I have a Canon Rebel XTI. Someday I will get a better camera, but I have to wear this one out first
