Hi, EXIF data is embedded in the file (Raw or JPG) by the camera, this data can then be read by all sorts of different software and tools. I imagine pretty much all cameras do this now, I certainly haven't come across any that don't in a very long time.

Some editing software removes it when a file is saved, for example Photoshop CS2 will leave it in if you save a JPG but strip it out if you do "Save for Web".

If you're using Windows you can usually see a summary of EXIF information by right-clicking on a JPG, selecting Properties and then clicking on the Details tab.
