Re: The Orton Technique

Initially I thought "why not just do a gaussian blur then use levels and/or curves to adjust?"

So I tried on several images to compare to the Orton. And they were close, but the Orton seemed a bit more impressionistic in feeling, which is probably what everyone is after.

Now then, it is a technique that can be added to our armamentarium, but my question is why does this happen?
