I was covering an indoor showjumping comp yesterday and the light was absolutely terrible, at times I had to bump the ISO to 1600 and even then I was only getting 1/60th @ f/2.8.

I tried panning but as horses, unlike cars, move on the vertical as well as the horizontal plane it meant I had to try and get the shot when they were at the highest point of their jump. Then it was to plan B and trying to go low and close with my 17-55mm and try and pan with that but again there just wasn't enough light.
I took plenty of shots and chimping got rid of many but when I got home and was processing them for my site I ended up binning about 40-50%. Not good.
