How much is the Sigma 70 - 300 APO in comparison? I think this range would be more useful than 55 - 200. VR, although a useful feature is by no means essential. I've been into photography for over 50 years now, and still do not possess a VR lens or body.

If you are on a budget, a used lens can be the way forward.
