Re-adjust Your Polariser ...

... when you change camera orientation!

I was shooting a reflection today, + noticed that when I changed from landscape orientation to portrait format, I lost the reflection It made me realise that when shooting a subject without a reflection to use as a guide, I don't ordinarily think to re-adjust my polariser when changing the camera orientation

(I didn't re-adjust in this case, 'cos I had the lens hood on + couldn't be bothered to take it off just to re-adjust the polariser, as I was just messing about anyway.)

It was only because of the reflection that the unpolarised state was drawn to my attention, but made me realise that in the field I must have loads of shots I thought were polarised but were in fact not! I usually just set the polariser using a reflection in a window ('til reflection is totally gone, if I want it fully polarised), then leave it alone for the duration of a shoot, assuming the polariser is doing its job

Hope this helps to highlight this issue for others
