Re: Flash compensation ??

First, ensure that your flash is set to TTL BL mode for regular shooting - this ensures that the ambient exposure and flash output are balanced (BL) to create a pleasing, natural look.

If that still washes out your subject, then dial in some -EV flash compensation on the SB-600 itself... use the minus button on the rear and you'll see a the Flash Exposure Compensation value change to a negative number in 1/3 increments.

Most folks swear by leaving this constantly at -2/3, but it's best to experiment till you get the look you want.
