I processed these sometime ago Dave but iirc I used channel mixer 40 - 20 - 20 and +5 then just played with level and curves, with a litle shadow & highlight. No burning or dodging just basic stuff.

You could very well be right, the baby has a birth mark or something on her forehead and I used the levels to lighten up as much as I dared to make that less noticeable. I then masked the eyes and gave a contrast usm. But I don't think they look to bad really...but i've still much to learn.
