Excellent Markulous, yes I did some early tests with my Canon 350D charger and Li-ion batteries and connected the charger and Li-ion battery to a test rig I had made. You will notice that there are positive + , negative - and T terminals .The T terminal is the reference voltage sensing for folding back the charge which normally starts off at about 510ma and slowly drops to about 250ma until the battery is so called fully charged and then the charge drops to zero.
So there is no benefit or detriment to leave the battery connected once the Amber led has changed to Green. I hope this helps.
