Thanks Paul, I didn't do anything special. I lassoo'd the door, and did 'invert selection' to get the rest of the stuff and not the door. Then, and this is something I never do, I used brightness / contrast, to adjust the brightness (making it lighter), whilst increasing the contrast a little to stop it looking flat, just lifting the details slightly.
Then for the door, I sort of re-converted it, with another layer, and darkened it with curves (ie, didn't lose detail, but made it slightly darker), and did a weeny bit of USM.


Hope that helps, but you could probably have got just as good a result as my pimp with OptikVerve Labs plugin, which I recommend to everyone, it's so good. Takes away some of the manual aspect, but still
