nikon d50 and convertors

Hi, I'm totally new to this, avoided chat rooms like the plauge and then I got a d50, can hear the kids chortling in the background....

I got the d50 with a nikon 18-50mm lense and went out and bought a tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 with 1:2 macro. both are excellent, however I want something that I can use with the 18-50mm to bring it down to 9mm for wide angle images and then I want a converter to increase the 300 to 600mm.

The other lens's I'm looking at are the Tamron 90mm DI macro and Sigma 105mm f2.8 ex dg, I'm a jeweller and silversmith and need the shorter focusing distance for my improvised copystand to capture images of my work.

So how do I find out if the lens I've got and will get will be ok with a converter? I've looked in my manuals, couldn't see anything in there, checked out info online but it just blagged my head with science, can any one help please?
