Re: Justwalls

First I have to say your subject is one of my favourites. Ever since we were given 'Dereliction' as a subject when I was doing my City & Guilds many years ago, it has stayed with me.

Second, as a Saahhff London boy myself you have captured what would have been considered a 'Des Res' when I lived there!

OK, back to the pics. #1 looks like it was taken through a doorframe. I find the near wall and near central vertical distracting, and I think it might have been better to have stood back and perhaps gone for a portrait shot to get all of the doorframe and fireplace in shot. I like the textures though.

#2 works better for me, the only thing being the diagonal thing going out of shot at the top of the frame. I'd be tempted to clone it out.

As regards processing, I don't think there is any one way that is better for larger prints or smaller ones, but in shots where colour plays a primary role it might be worth experimenting with saturation levels and even boosting/reducing one colour as well as all colours.

Framing and borders are just as important as the picture, so make sure you get this part right too, but only once you have finalised the prints.
