Re: Lose your licence after just TWO speeding tickets

I have to disagree with this latest government initiative. Its really trying to solve a problem from really the wrong way as has been said speed is only a contributing factor to the severity of accidents and its the sole cause in around 5% of cases!

The cause 99% of accidents out there are purely down to drivers poor driving skills, poor hazard perception, with 1% down to say 'Pure acts of god' the tree falling in the road, the black ice etc....

All these draconian speed laws do is criminalise the normal motorist, take all the idiots off the road that cant drive and accidents would be few and far between, make the driving test 10x harder, minimum of 100 - 150 hours of tutorials before getting license, compulsory 10 year driving tests, two accidents caused by yourself and loose your license, implement these measures and you'd be supprised how safe the roads become!!!!!! There seems to be this attitude that everyone has a god given right to drive regardless of driving ability....WRONG

I work with a young lad who recently passed his driving test after a few attemps now if you have a wonder around his car its hard to find a bit of body work thats not dented!!!! over 15 prangs in his first 6 months, I've been driving for 16 years without ONE accident yet i'm not one to follow speed limits, i drive according to the road conditions!! If i'm driving outside a school at 3 o'clock in the afternoon then its 20mph if i'm on the motorway on boxing day with no traffic around 90mph is fine (3 points, £60 fine) , i'm confident in my own driving ability to decide!!! My car is serviced regulary, i checked my tires before i left. I have commuted the length and bredth of this country more miles than most are ever likely to do yet that doesn't count for didly squat!!!

As Mark said it wont be long before we all have a man with a flag infront of our cars and yes there will still be accidents because 'SOME PEOPLE CANT DRIVE' and until you take these people of the roads lets all run around like headless chickens and have us all driving at 5mph
