Re: Ad Free

Pixalo has nowhere near enough ads to be a problem for any but the most demanding of web users in my opinion. The amount of work that goes into the site means someone somewhere has to pay for it. It is wrong, IMHO, to ask advertisers to pay to advertise on your site and then to give people the option of avoiding those ads. Yes I know the ad blockers can be used but I feel that is as far as it should go and that should be down to the user to apply if they want to.

I have always said I would be happy to pay a membership fee for Pixalo because it is an excellent forum that is well worth a few quid. However, I also know that A) Dave and Steve have always been adamant they do not want to charge members for Pixalo, and B) I doubt Pixalo would be growing so fast if people had to pay before they got a chance to experience and see how good it is. I am guessing here but I should imagine the number of Pixalo members who use it as frequently and actively as I do is a pretty small percentage of the total. Would people who pop in for half an hour once a week be as willing to pay for it? I doubt it.

My opinion is quite simple: the owners of the site have since its inception been careful to ensure ads do not take over the place and become a nuisance. I say they are left to make decisions about the ads on their own and if putting a couple of ads here and there brings in the funds needed to run it, that is absolutely fine by me.

Cheers,
Rob
