Re: New Canon 5D MarkII upgrade?
When I bought the 5D I decided to keep the 20D for bird photography or, for that matter, any other kind of photography in which it's not easy to fill the frame with the main subject. The reason being that although the 20D has fewer pixels they are spread over a smaller area and do in fact, produce a higher pixel density. However, I am so pleased with the results from the 5D and it is so easy to handle, helped by the larger viewing screen, that my 20D never sees the light of day. It would if I did sports photography where its 5 fps is almost twice as fast as the 3 fps on the 5D. I did wonder about the 1D Mk III hoping it might auto focus at f8 so that I could retain auto focus when using the 1.4x extender with my 400 mm lens. I never did get the answer to that question. Then it came to light that Canon have recalled the Mk III due to a focusing fault. So, I will, at least for now, stay with the 5D which I am really pleased with.
