Woody, in Picasa, you need to open up the picure then select File then Export Picture to Folder, this then gives you the option to re-size the image to give you the correct pixel size. Bringing it down to about 800 pixels usually brings the picture to within the size limits but you may need to tweak it a little if not.

I also have Corel Paint Shop but as it's not loaded on my laptop and I don't have my new desktop yet, I can't remember how to do it! But there is a Resize option in one of the drop down menus.
