Well I rather like this shot, the b&w treatment makes them look like something one of those glamorous actress's would wear in an old American movie in the 30's or 40's...
I would agree though that the stones are crying out for a bit of reflected light and I also think the shot may benefit slightly from showing the whole shoe, but that's not to say that your current crop dosn't work, quite the opposite.
