I don't like the idea of a lower viewpoint because:
a) You would lose some of the reflected water within the foreground rocks.
b) The 'space' between the FG rocks and the BG land i.e. the strip of sea, would become narrower and thus offer less separation between FG and BG.
The existing VP also gives the FG rocks real 'presence' which I feel would be reduced by a lower VP.
