OK, so I've only used the Sigma 105mm (on Sigma and Canons) but I find it more than adequate and up to the task (see
Sigma 105mm EX DG Macro f/2.8 - Example / Sample shots / photos ). Concensus seems to be that Canon 100mm and Sigma 105mm have pretty much equal quality with the Canon having the better build. Don't know the Nikon lens
