I wish I lived closer because it would have been sorted correctly 1st time.
I have a fan in a rather unusual place, being at the front blowing over my 3 hard drives. They run cold and hence I don't blow disk drives on an annual basis.
Would they have removed that because it was in the wrong place ?
They are utter incompetents and should never be allowed near a computer.
If they are leaving the USB connecters off because the machine won't boot with them on what the hell have they done as it worked before. A USB coonection will only stop the machine if it's set to boot from removable devices first and can't find any, it would have to have had bios settings messed with.
Fiona I would implore you before you run your machine too long to find somehwere else, or a computer literate engineer to check it out. It would worry me that the main chip fan they have fitted hasn't been done correctly.
If I remember they had to bodge the main fan to get it to fit.
I hate to shout but you NEVER EVER do that. You can still buy fans for 386 machines that haven't been sold for 10 years.
When you get it back if your stuck then let us know the make and model of mainboard, usually written on the board and I'll see if I can get some info before you go too far with it.
These people make me mad, they give computer engineers a bad name and that makes me very angry.
ps I've been building PC's since they first emerged in the early 80's, my first one was made out of salvaged parts and is still running 27 years later
