Don't get me wrong, I still think the D300 looks and handles better than virtually any of the Canon range (easy on the flaming! It's just my preference.
) but, it's still a very new camera and I just don't feel confident in making the decision at the moment.
If I bought the 5D I would expect it to work flawlessly for the time I own it (time for the jokes) but by todays standards it looks tired.
