The main reason was for the high ISO capability which is much better than the D300. This will obviously be useful for weddings in dimly lit churches but I have also been recently appointed as the official photographer to the British Equestrian Federation and have a series of major indoor shows during the summer where the light is variable and that's putting it politely! Whilst the D300 coped well with the stallion show I did at Easter the arena was reasonably well lit compared to some.
Plus I wanted it!
