Re: CANON EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS ?

I dont have one so this is opinion rather than any useful fact but as no-one else has chipped in I hope this might help a bit.

I was looking at the EF-S 55-250mm IS but I decided not to for the simple reason that it is a budget lens. Admittedly even Canon's budget lenses are pretty good, and for the money they are asking I doubt there will be too many complaints, but I think you would have to expect some limitations. Because I plan to try (at some point) and sell some of the images I take I decided to wait until I can afford at worst a mid-range lens and ideally an L-series.

If budget is more important to you than ultimate quality then I expect you would be very pleased with the lens. If you want high performance and quality images then I think you might risk being disappointed.

Again, this is just my opinion, but explains why I don't own one.
