Things really weren't working out with the new assistant, Jack, who never seemed to be able to position the piece of card properly
Firstly, Jack owes me 20 minutes of my life back (for doing this). Created black layer and then used a combo of paintbrush (to paint it in) and eraser (to remove it) at different hardness and opacity settings. Probably would use the select tool if I did this for real - but I never will as all my pet portraits are done against suitable natural backdrops (dislike studio type shots)
