Thanks Dabhand. It still doesn't make me much wiser as in, which one to get.
The biggest reason I would do it for is then protection (3 young kids who could grab mama's camera) against scratches.
And the vignetting bit is a good point. I think I'm just going for the digital multicoated filter.
It's not easy to take in all this information and form an opinion and decide what to go for
