Park Cameras are a 'bricks and mortar store' in London and they are usually well below Jessops prices. A couple of examples:
Nikon 300D
Jessops: - Mega Bank holiday price slashed: £999
Park Cameras: not just for bank holiday: £985
Canon 40D body only
Jessops: 639.99
Park cameras: 599.99
As I often pop up to London, it's no big deal to pop in when I am there. If not, Park's delivery is very low and guaranteed next day delivery.
I do agree with the general point that not places that have shops in the UK will be a lot cheaper than jessops, but then how many photography shops are there nowadays in our town centres? I know there are still some of the very small independent shops though these are a dying breed as they just can't compete. Jessops is probably the only national chain of stores in the UK anyway apart from multi-purpose shops like Dixons who I wouldn't dream of buying a camera from unless they did a very special deal (wouldn't hold my breath on that one!) but in all honesty I think more and more people are realising that buying from HK and other parts of the world and getting extremely good deals is not a bad thing. After all, send a camera back to a shop you bought it from in the UK and you probably won't get it back any sooner than sending it to HK.
The only time I have had to send a faulty item back to HK, I had a brand new replacement in my hand less than 5 days after sending it off. The last time I sent a camera in for a minor repair in a UK shop, I was without it for nearly a month and that was for a repair that didn't need any new parts!
I keep going in jessops hoping they'll have something I can spend my £30 of vouchers on but they are still taking up residence in my wallet right now. I need some batteries for my wife's camera, guess that'll get rid of some of them
Cheers,
Rob
