Interesting diffuser shot, I might try the tissue approach on my flash gun, still can get a reflection on the shinier insects with the MT-24ex.

The focusing rails are also called macro bellows. They attach to the tripod and camera, and allow you to move the camera back and forth, and with some focusing rails (eg Velbon Super Mag Slider) side to side as well by turning a screw on the intrustment. Good for precise control as you set your lens to the desired magnification and then move in and out with very fine control. Obviously for moving insects they are not much use!
