Hi all,
I know the number of posts listed under my name will have gine up when you read this but this is my 5,000th post on Pixalo and I wanted to use it to say something worthwhile by welcoming you to the site I seriously believe to be the best Photography forum on the internet. I am NOT a member of the Crew so this is entirely the thoughts of a Pixalo member with no ulterior motive at all. But I love it and here's why....
- Pixalo is not run by a faceless big-bucks business trying to make a load of dosh out of me, it is run by some guys who first and foremost love photography and wanted a site for like-minded people.
- When I joined, Pixalo had just a few hundred members, now it has over 3,600 and through it I have made many friends who I really enjoy chatting to about the hobby/profession I love.
- The Crew of Pixalo are volunteers who care enough about the members to give up their time to help make this the site it is. They all started as members and to a man (and woman!) deserve huge credit for what they've achieved.
- Pixalo is a site where members help members. They don't care whether you are experienced or a total newbie to the world of digital photography, they will help you just the same.
- You can store loads of pictures on here, just like you can on sites like FlickR but on here you can get thoughtful feedback and advice and you don't keep seeing signs saying 'cough up to upgrade now and you'll get more...' On Pixalo you get the lot right from the start and you don't have to pay a penny. I can assure you, I'd still be a member if I was paying!
- People don't criticise for the sake of it, they offer good advice IF you want it. In short, if you want to learn and develop your skills, you can do so here in a totally non-threatening environment.
- If you just want to browse and be inspired, you can do that to!
- There are some superb tutorials, all made by members here, which will help you with using your camera and also with photo editing and processing.
- Loads of regulars have been here for quite a while but it has never been at all cliquey. Everyone is welcomed, be they here for a day or years!
There are plenty more reasons for being a member of Pixalo but I'll let you find those out for yourself. I'll simply say
