Having recently acquired both a Gary Fong Lightsphere AND a Nikon SB-800 (thanks Dave

), I've been impressed with its performance. I have loads of shots that are nothing special, I'm still learning what flash modes and settings to use, but I think these shots show that it does work.
The diffuser is available in Clear or Cloud versions. This one is the 'Cloud' version that is supposed to give softer light. See what you think.
All of these shots are straight from camera and have NO processing other than to REMOVE the 25% sharpening default in Lightroom and then into PS for resizing.
1. No flash. Lit from large window to RHS, about 5 feet away. The vase is about 12" from the wall. 55mm 1/50 f5.6 ISO200 (Aperture Priority mode)
2. As above but with GF diffuser 55mm 1/60 f5.6 ISO200 (Aperture Priority mode)
3. Encouraged by earlier results, this one is in the conservatory. No without flash reference for this one I'm afraid. 40mm 1/200 f5.6 ISO200.
4 Next two were taken at night with no lighting in the conservatory at all - just the flash light. This one with flash set to TTL BL (balanced fill) mode 40mm 1/60 f5 ISO200
5. This one as above with TTL mode 40mm 1/60 f5 ISO200
When I've got some more to show, I'll post them.
I have reviewed the Lambancy whaletail v Gary Fong Lightsphere
here.
