I have been through similar this week, fortunately for me, it wasnt as urgent as your requirement ! Is a bugger though ! I ordered a Gitzo tripod off Ebay, with a offset ballhead and bag, came to 345 including delivery, for a 2227 and 1376m !
received the tripod yesterday, but they didnt deliver the other box because the postcode was wrong, ie the whole address was right but i had an extra 1 in postcode ! What bugged me was the tripod box had the same address on, someone at the post office saw it and said, "oooh that 1 shouldnt be there", crossed it out and delivered it ! Why the f*** couldnt they do that for the other box ! Alls well that ends well though
got shiny tripod now !
I would say the blame falls 50:50 with the HK supplier and the courier for not having any intelligence to work it out ! they all have satnav and autoroute and all sorts of methods of working this stuff out !
Really sorry you wont have your lens for the trip though
