Slowly is definitely the way forward. It takes practice and time mate, I still need to improve on my panning skills, the F1 practice session I shot a while ago reminded me of that and more recently a shoot at a triathlon brought my weaknesses to the fore.
A Battery grip will help improve your comfort with the camera and also reduce your wobbles. The added weight might seem to be negative but the benefits outweigh the cons.

I am good, been busy since Christmas, got myself a website that takes a lot of my time
The photography I try to keep my hand and eye in and I am planning a major move in the next few months. All is well although at times I wish there were 8 days in a week.

Obviously you know about the politics from the old place and I now have no access at all there, its no biggy just a shame it had to end that way.
I guess that makes it even better when an old face finds their way here to say hello.
