Hi Graham, did not seem to have a problem even before i got the support, there has been mixed views on it some say the same as me while others had negative reports, all i can say is i made sure that the collar was tight around the lens,hand tight without going overboard then everything was stable, but as i said this lens has had little to no use anyway so was expecting to have a problem
