Powerpoint suffers from zero day attack

Powerpoint suffers from zero day attack
Vole's confession
By Nick Farrell: Friday 14 July 2006, 07:32

SPOKESPEOPLE at the software giant Microsoft have had to admit for the third time in two months that one of the components of its super soaraway Office software has been hit with a zero-day vulnerability.

The latest attack exploits a flaw in Microsoft PowerPoint. Powerpoint is software designed to make a presentation more interesting by putting participants through a show which is often as exciting as seeing a neighbour's slides of their rained out holiday in S****horpe.

Symantec say that the zero-day attack is connected to a Trojan horse program called Trojan.PPDropper.B. An infected .ppt file arrives as an attachment from a Gmail address. Apparently the mail is in Chinese which means that the attack is designed to take down sites in the Far East.

When the attachment is opened a keystroke logger is activated and used to steal data and send it to a remote server. It then wipes out traces of the computer breach.

A spokesVole said that the attack as "extremely limited" because it required users to download and run the attachment. That never happens of course.

EDIT 1: LOL @ the Grandma Edit Gone Mad - I'm sure there was a news article about S****horpe being banned by MSN years and years ago.
EDIT 2: Here it is Mr ****a unlikely to get Microsoft Passport
