I use a Canon printer and up until recently used original inks too. The quality was always excellent but like many I thought I would try some cheaper alternatives. Since I have my important and larger prints done at professional printers all I use my home printer for are the smaller shots that I display at home, these are usually short lived and changed on a regular basis so their longevity is not vital to me.

If I was printing important stuff that I was worried about fading in years to come I would certainly stick with original manufacturers inks but in certain circumstances, third party inks make much more sense.
