Fat Bloke with a Camera says Hi!

Hi All,

I'm Pete from Fareham in Hampshire. I'm the wrong side of 45 and have been taking pictures since teenage years but don't pretend to be even a skilled amateur.

I have, however, over the years indulged in black and white processing so do know one end of an enlarger from the other and have spent many happy hours trying to fish film out of a 35mm cartridge in a blacked out bathroom.

I've been recently lurking in the forums picking up advice on a new DSLR although I have now pre-ordered Nikon D80 as Silver Anniversary present from partner.

Nowaday, I'm mainly getting interested in macro and abstract pictures using household and nearly objects (bone idle, you see). But I would always be interested in comparing notes about locations with other Hampshire dwellers.

Other cameras in the stable are Canon S60 (great quality images in my opinion, Canon EOS 650 (nearly vintage!) and Canon 300V.

I also find myself greatly disturbed by the apparent political moves to restict our freedom to photograph life on the streets and in the raw for posterity. As a man, I now find that I dare not photograph scenes with children in or other sensitiive subjects due to media hysteria. I feel the time is now right for a Ramblers Association style re-assertion of our rights and freedoms.

That's all from me.
Kindest Regards,
Pete (Newbie) Springfield
