Hope your OK witrh this Jen, but the shot below is purely an example of some processes you can follow to try & add a bit more punch to a flat shot. It is not attempt for a final shot.
- To add some more contrast, try adding a "levels" or "curves" adjustment layer. Do nothing with it, apart from changing blending mode from "normal" to "soft light". See the difference ?
- In this example the levels showed a gap to the left......pulled it in to get pure blacks in shadows.
- Added a curves level & pulled top right of line, up to the left, to lighten up the highlights only.
- The flower at the top was now too dark. Added FILTER - RENDER - LIGHTING EFFECTS - OMNI light.....placing circle over offending flower. Immediately afterwards went to EDIT - FADE LIGHTINNG EFFECTS & backed off % to about 30%.
Like I said I posted the above as some hints & tips on some processes you can try at home.......not as a final edit. Hope this helps.
