Thought I'd start another discussion after seeing Markulous' mods on a couple of my mono conversions in the sharing and manipulation forums.
I think my editing is influenced too much by having taken the original shot, so having the scene in my mind's eye. So, I consider hue/saturation (in colour), sky details and general corrections, but everything revolves around the original scene.
It seems that someone who is detached from the original scene can see that changing tones and altering, in one example, a single toned wall to have some variation will give a better overall appearance. These are specifically in mono conversions.
The limitations of the mind are as important as your ability in editing. Sideways thinking is obviously needed to look at the image, rather than the memory of the scene.
Or am I just going off (or up) the wall?
