Sorry but that theory is proved wrong a thousand times over if you read magazines, look at quality photography books and collections, etc. I can think of a thousand places that are nothing at all to look at during the day but when lit up at night come alive.

A motorway is hardly a great subject during the day but a slow exposure at night with lovely streaks of light works wonders.
Hurn airport near me is boring as Eastenders during the day but when all the runway lights are lit up, you can get all sorts of imaginative shots.
Strewth, even Blackpool tower looks dull during the daytime but lit up it changes it altogether.

It is the lights that make all the difference but other things can be helpful to, like a beautiful sunset or dawn. It is definitely worth trying things out in the evenings and at night to see what you get. Ok, this shot isn't dramatically interesting but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try them at night.

Cheers,
Rob
