. You have a fine lens with the 17-85. With regard to a walkabout lens I use the Tamron 18-200 which I am happy with. I can't comment, yet, on the 18-250 but I imagine, from the spec, that it will be very similar too the 18-200. So...don't expect the bees knees in low light, it probably won't achieve it's full zoom and watch out for some CA at extremes. However, it's good value for money. Check out our
