Re: Quick Snapshot Of Friends Daughter
We must always think 'What would the client think?' when taking paid photos and I think that is worthwhile here even though it is not as such. This is a teenaged girl and wants to look good, of course, in any picture. I am certain that she would absolutely love the mono treatment you have given her as it softens her and makes her look more mature while still retaining the fact she is a girl and not a woman. It's a lovely reworking given the limitations of the original. The problem with the first is mainly the lighting which has caused some strong shadows, The forehead does have all the detail there so I think in the mono this could be dumbed down slightly to avoid it being such a hotspot. She has beautiful eyes and we don't want any other area to draw the viewers attention away from them.
For me, the strongest shadow problem is the dark line underlining the nose. This dark line is making her nose look larger than it is: not something most girls will appreciate! There was a strong shadow under her chin but the tight crop has alleviated that.
I think you've brought out her strong points really nicely, softened her face and given her an image she will surely be delighted with. Please tell us what she thinks when she sees it as I am sure she's going to love it :o)
Cheers,
Rob
