Gallery Tags

This is another new addition to the ever improving Pixalo site. Tags or 'tag clouds' as they are probably more commonly known, have been used very successfully on many blog sites for a while now. People love them because they are simple, easy to follow and a very effective visual representation of large amounts of data.



Think of tags as keywords, and this little addition to the Members Gallery searches the database for all words input into the keywords field by the members as you upload your pictures. It then gives a visual representation of them on the gallery homepage. They are very easy to follow and understand, the more popular the word the larger it appears in the tag display. Each word is also a link to all the photos that have been tagged with that reference, once clicked it will open a gallery containing those images and gives yet another way of having your photos listed and seen.

We would encourage all members to correctly ‘tag’ each of your photo uploads with relevant keywords from now on and it is possible for you to go back and edit/add any keywords to your existing photos. Just click on your photo, click edit and then input the keywords into the field provided leaving a space in between each word. This will give your work the best possible chance of exposure.

This addition has taken a great number of hours to implement and we hope that you find it useful, or at least interesting.

Just a little information to make the tags more effective as time goes on...

With regards to the actual keywords there is no point putting in sentences as the way the system works it will list every word as a separate keyword and apply it to the tags in the same manor.

So instead of typing in

for a picture of a boat on the sea at sunset A boat on the sea at sunset with a stormy sky in the distance

You would type in

keywords Boat Sea Sunset Stormy Sky Distance

with just a space in between each word and it would leave out all the unnecessary words while tagging your shot much more effectively and prevent useless words such as and a picture of on the at in distance from appearing in the tags

Hope this is not taken the wrong way and helps you tag your shots more effectively for the future

No idea why Mono is so large

Finding by setting my view to "puzzle" & maximum number of shots per page, it's great flicking through the different tags (keywords). Noticed quite a few shot's I had previously missed
