This month's winner has been a member for some time. Recently he has taken a more active role on Pixalo with an exemplary contribution during the last month. He has taken the time to reply to a wide variety of questions and topics and his experience and knowledge of cameras, lenses and photography will have greatly helped a number of our new members who have been looking for advice.

A man who's humour and wit is as dry as the Arizona Desert and who often plays devils advocate to many threads but always with the intention of helping others in their quest to be better photographers.

What's the world coming to?

Well, thanks a million guys and gals. I appreciate this even more at the moment because we're in the process of ripping the basement of the house (five rooms) apart after some water got in during the June floods. So everything will be in total chaos for the next few weeks and this MoM thingy has cheered me up no end.

And I'd like to thank my wife, my agent, our three cats, the mouse they brought in earlier and all the photogenic bees for making it all possible....

And the next project is to upload some pics to the Pixalo gallery once I read how to do it. See what you've let yourself in for?

Know what you are going through with basement, as had a previous house flood with home cinema gear in it. All the best & make sure you have some pumps installed (mine didn't )

The basement is a storey deep at the back but mostly at ground level at the front. When the monsoons came the groundwater table built up, and water somehow got through the tanking and between the concrete slab and a false floor raised up on battens. Luckily there was no damage to any of the stuff in the basement rooms, but it means ripping up the false floor to install an internal tanking system. So everything has had to be cleared out - including my office, the workshop (which had a half-ton lathe in it), a hobby room and a store room with 20 years accumulated junk (which seemed worth keeping at the time!). It has taught us to be a bit tidier and more selective about what we keep.

The good news is that we can stop this from ever happening again, unlike the poor souls in other places who are at the mercy of river levels. It'll be great when it's all done, but I'd like to go into hibernation for the next few weeks.
