Reputation system for community members

We have enabled the community reputation system for all members. This allows you to give other members ‘reputation points’ if you feel that their advice has been particularly helpful or they have made special effort to assist in any way. Once they receive the points it is displayed as a graphical indication under their name in each post. increasing as they gain more reputation points.

How to view someones Reputation

Just under a persons post count you will see a Reputation Bar that is made up of coloured squares. The more squares the higher the Reputation of that member.

How to comment/add value on someone's Reputation

If a particular post in your eyes deserves a reputation bonus, then click on the little icon of scales at the bottom of the persons ID box to left of the post & fill out the relevant boxes.

How to view your own Reputation

Go to "User CP" & underneath your subscribed threads you should see a list of Reputation left by others for you.

Reputation points can be affected by several things…

Administrator's Reputation Power
How many reputation points does an administrator give or take away with each click? As admin we can add or take away reputation points

Register Date Factor
For every X number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Post Count Factor
For every X number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Reputation Point Factor
For every X points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Minimum Post Count
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?

Minimum Reputation Count
How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

Reputation User Spread
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

This is a great system to thank other community members for their assistance.

Following on from this we have now enabled a quick and easy way for everyone to see the top ten members who currently have the most reputation points. At the bottom of the Community forum home page between the Active users and Members who have visited today is a new section with that information.

Please remember to give reputation points to others whenever you feel they have been helpful or gone out to their way with advice or information. Later in the year there will be a prize for the member with the highest reputation and even if you don’t happen to win, giving some points is a free and easy gesture to show your appreciation.

In addition to above, we have put in place a process to reward those who take time to write quality reviews in the Equipment Review section.

At the end of each month we shall manually add reputation points for each quality Equipment review by members.
