Quick question re the 'black' colour scheme........is it actually black or just a slightly off black?

I'm basing it on the grey scale in the members gallery looking at the black on that.

Yeah I tried the black as I like and think a darker colour really sets off pics but, I have recently bought a new monitor and calibration unit and it doesn't look black to me....having said that I quite like the blue anyway especially on the front page....Think that looks really nice.

Hi P.E Yes Black is Black as the ace of spades. There is a pedestal of grey (off black) where the post date window is and the text paragraphs are.Also a sit up is present where the headings are.It could be your monitor is not showing TRUE BLACK. I hope this helps .

I can only just see with much struggle, the no.1 on the black chart.....no. 2 is very faint but can see the rest quite easy.
Still prefer the blue though.

Actually Ian, I don't think it's completely black, because I often put true black borders on my photos, and you can see the edges when I post them on the forum....

Not quite black: took screen grab, fed into PS and it is 20,20,20 RGB (black is 0,0,0 - max is white 256, 256, 256)

Hi Markulous, Does the 20'20'20 reading in Adobe PS include the perimeter "BLACK" around the three balls of Pixalo including the outside border.? because I see that this level is darker than the text box.
Just checked the "border black" by capturing the Pixalo 3 Balls at the top of this page and using the probe in Curves in Adobe 7 the black is 17.

Just for purists I thought the White Max reading is 255?.

3 x 17 appears to be the darkest - and yes, 255 is max (just testing to see if anyone noticed....... of course......... maybe......... )

Too much Red wine with the Sunday roast on my part Markulous I agree ,darkest Black using the "picker is 17 .

The black theme is really a very dark theme. It contains elements of black (thin borders around certain sections) but is mostly made up of very dark greys.
